What is BookLocalWork?

BookLocalWork is the front door to eight trade directories: tree, roofing, air conditioning, plumbing, pool, garage doors, seawall and septic. Each one lists contractors for that trade, with licence numbers you can verify where the trade is state-licensed.

Does it cost anything to use?

No. Searching the directories and submitting a job are both free for homeowners. Placement in the directories is not sold, so the order you see is not paid for.

Which trades are covered?

Eight: tree services, roofing contractors, air conditioning contractors, plumbers, pool contractors, garage door contractors, seawall and marine contractors, and septic contractors. Each has its own site with its own town and county pages.

Where does the contractor information come from?

Where a state publishes a contractor licence register, listings for the licensed trades are built from that public register. Everywhere else they come from open business data and are not licence-verified. Contact details are added from public sources and from contractors who claim their listing.

Do you check that contractors are licensed and insured?

We publish the licence number on record so you can verify it yourself with that state licensing board, and we tell you when a trade carries no state licence. We are not a contractor and we do not endorse or guarantee any company. Confirming licence, insurance and suitability before you hire is your responsibility.

Which areas are covered?

Tree service is open now and has a page for every state. The other seven directories are being rebuilt and are not open yet; each one says so on its own site.
